Level I: Firearm Safety and Basics*

 Classroom or Live Fire


Designed for individuals who:

  • Have never fired a handgun 
  • Do not currently own a firearm 
  • Feel uncomfortable or uncertain around firearms 
  • Want professional guidance before purchasing a handgun 

Instruction may include:

  • Universal firearm-safety rules 
  • Understanding different handgun types 
  • Safe handling and firearm operation 
  • Loading and unloading 
  • Ammunition basics 
  • Responsible firearm storage 
  • Firearm-selection guidance 
  • A carefully supervised first live-fire experience


*You may sign a waiver of acknowledgment that you understand the fundamentals of firearm safety and function and move directly to Level II.


*Any student under the age of 21 MUST take Level I with a parent or legal guardian.  The student may then continue to the next levels once the training objectives have been met, but a parent or legal guardian must be present for instruction, even if they are not participating.

Designed for newer handgun owners and shooters who need to establish safe, repeatable fundamentals.


Instruction may include:

  • Firearm safety and range procedures 
  • Handgun operation 
  • Loading and unloading 
  • Chamber and condition checks 
  • Stance and body position 
  • Proper grip 
  • Sight alignment and sight picture 
  • Trigger control 
  • Recoil management 
  • Introductory marksmanship 
  • Cleaning and basic maintenance

Level III: Developing Consistency

Designed for shooters who understand basic firearm operation but want to improve their accuracy, consistency, confidence, and firearm manipulation.


Instruction may include:

  • Recoil management 
  • Follow-up shots 
  • Target transitions 
  • Ready-position work 
  • Emergency and administrative reloads

Designed for safe, competent shooters who are ready to apply their fundamentals under increasing time and performance demands.


Instruction may include:

  • Drawing from a holster 
  • Drawing from concealment 
  • Emergency and proactive reloads 
  • Malfunction identification and clearing 
  • Multiple-shot strings 
  • Multiple-target engagement 
  • Positional shooting 
  • Introductory movement 
  • Shot-timer use 
  • Balancing speed and accuracy 


Students must demonstrate safe firearm handling and foundational proficiency before beginning holster work. A safe, suitable holster is required.

Level V: Advanced Skill Development

Designed for shooters who are already proficient in firearm safety, handgun manipulation, and fundamental marksmanship and are ready to begin defensive or advanced skill development.


Instruction may include:

  • Defensive firearm presentation 
  • Shooting while moving 
  • Use of cover and concealment 
  • Unconventional shooting positions 
  • Strong-hand and support-hand shooting 
  • Decision-making exercises 
  • Defensive accuracy 
  • Timed performance standards 
  • Scenario-based drills 
  • Identifying future training needs


Level V instruction does not automatically include every skill listed. Training content is selected according to the student’s demonstrated ability, available facilities, safety requirements, and goals.

Unless specifically included in a written quote:

  • Ammunition is not included. 
  • Range admission and target fees are not included.  We cover these unless specified.
  • Students provide their own firearm, ammunition, eye protection, and hearing protection. 
  • Loaner firearms or equipment may be available by prior arrangement. 
  • Students using an unfamiliar firearm must complete a safety and operation review before live fire. (See note on Level I)
  • All live-fire instruction is subject to range availability, weather, appropriate equipment, and demonstrated safe firearm handling. 
  • Private instruction does not constitute a concealed-carry permit course or professional certification unless specifically advertised as such.

Private lessons may be taken by an individual or a group of up to 6 participants. Pricing includes all targets and range fees.

Investment for each additional participant:

 Regional Travel

  • Wayne County: No travel charge 
  • Within 30 miles of Goldsboro: No travel charge 
  • 31–60 miles from Goldsboro: $75 regional instruction fee 
  • More than 60 miles from Goldsboro: Custom quote 
  • Raleigh- or Greenville-area destination lessons: Two-hour minimum 

Any regional instruction fee applies to the session, not to each student.


Believing in the importance of being beyond reproach regarding moral standards, female students have a strict 2-person minimum for private instruction.
